For the first time since Mike and I moved to Maryland in 2001, we packed up the car (and Miles) and drove to Ocean City for the weekend. How could we let the summer end without introducing Miles to the ocean?
Miles loves the bathtub and swimming pool so when he saw the ocean, he pointed, squealed and said "huh?" every time a wave would come up and go out. It was a struggle to keep our little fish from "swimming" off without us. If one or two waves would go by without hitting his feet, he would "run" into the water just in time for the next one to collide with him. Mike took great care of Miles and made sure he didn't get knocked over - I, on the other hand, was paying too much attention to Miles and not enough on the HUGE wave that drenched both of us.
Miles wasn't too fond of the sand, especially when Mike buried his feet. He wasn't sure what to do with it so, like most things, he ended up tasting it. I'm sure this won't be the last time he decides to eat sand or dirt though.
Special thanks to John and Lee for their hospitality. We had a great weekend and enjoyed spending time with the two of them.
