Destination: Elkins, West Virginia (approximately 260 miles and 5 hours)
We couldn't do our round-robin drive without stopping in good ole' West Virginia. After leaving Columbus, we went drove 4-5 hours to Elkins to visit Hoy, Theresa and Madalynn. We love visiting them because we truly get to relax. We kicked off our shoes, sat back on the sofa and watched the WVU bowl game (terrible ending), stuffed ourselves with fondue (something that's become somewhat of a tradition when we meet up with Hoy and Theresa) and had a small wine tasting party too.
While the adults were catching up, Miles and Madalynn camped out in her room. They played with her kitchen (Miles is a nature chef), read a few books and watched a video or two. Madalynn had a couple Elmo videos Miles hadn't seen (imagine that) so the two of them sat side-by-side on her sofa and watched them. Don't worry, Hoy made sure the door was open ;)
Madalynn gave Miles a V-tech school bus for Christmas. He scooted around the house on his school bus - he didn't quite understand that it wasn't for him to ride on. At some point, Miles thought Madalynn's truck was a ride-on toy too. He especially loved when Daddy pushed him around the house.
Our music man also jammed it out on Madalynn's pink guitar (he didn't mind the color). Miles walked around the house with guitar on singing - we're just not sure what. I think he was serenading Madalynn!
After falling asleep during the WVU bowl game, Miles wanted to redeem himself and make sure his "future father-in-law" saw how much he loved WVU.
