There's no better way to jump start a toddler's obsession with trains than to take him for a ride on one.
Earlier this spring Mike and I bought tickets to the Day Out with Thomas at the Strasburg Railroad. We drove up to the depot the Saturday of Father's Day weekend and kick-started Miles' love of trains. The day was spent saying "choo-choo" and we heard over and over again "look Mama! look Dada! choo-choo train!"
Our train left the depot just before noon. We made our way to the front of the train into one of the open window cars. It was a beautiful (and rather warm day) so the wind was welcomed. Our 20-minute excursion took us out into the hills of Pennsylvania and through some of Amish country. Miles pointed out every farm animal he saw, and made sure we saw everything too. He also cheered Thomas on the entire ride..."go Thomas, you can do it!"
