Let's just say I'm a few weeks behind on posts...
Over Memorial Day weekend, Mike, Miles and I met our daycare provider, Sandy, her daughter and granddaughter at a local farm for strawberry picking. It was incredibly hot that day and even though we were out on the field by 9 am, the sun was already wilting the plants and us, for that matter. Not too long after we started, another one of Miles' friends joined us with her mom and sister.
We went up and down the rows for about an hour collecting as many plump, red strawberries as we could find. The "pick your own" season started the weekend before, so it took a little more searching to find the best strawberries. Miles seemed to enjoy it. He walked around with his friends Alex and Raegan, they picked and occasionally smushed the berries as they were putting them into their buckets. I think a few may have ended up in their mouths when we were looking.
In the end, we went home with around 20 pounds of strawberries and at least a dozen red spots on Miles' shirt. While Miles was napping that afternoon, Mike and I made just about six jars of strawberry jam and then froze the rest for smoothies.
**In case you're wondering why Miles' eye is swollen, we found out that weekend that Miles appears to be allergic to mosquito bites! Wherever he gets bit, it swells up for a few days.
