Counting Our Blessings

Some time between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. a tornado blew through my hometown and hit the beach my family lives on. Fortunately, most of the homes on Estral Beach were spared; however, my sister's boyfriend lost his roof and his garage was leveled. God was watching over Connie, her boyfriend John, my nephews and John's daughter because they were all in the house when the tornado hit.

My cousin Fred, who lives a few houses down from my parents, said he watched the tornado pass his house while he was hunkered down under his coffee table and make-shift fort with his two young sons. He he said the tornado was only about 100 feet away on the lake. Unfortunately, since it's a community on the water, most of the houses do not have basements.

We are blessed that all of our friends and family walked away from this without a scratch. Sadly, there have been five deaths reported to the west and south of where my family lives. Dundee got the brunt of the storm. Click here for a link to the MSNBC news report.
