Miles: First Day of Pre-K4

Summer faded and the first school bell rang. Unlike last year, Miles ran toward the door and for a moment I didn't think he'd turn around and wave. But, he did. His big blue eyes and wide grin turned my way and without saying a word he said "see you, mom"  and that was it. My big boy was off to his first full-day of school.

After much thought, Mike and I decided it was best for Miles to do a second year of Pre-K4. When we found out his teacher from last year would be teaching a full-day preschool class, it sealed the deal. Miles is a smart cookie, but it was obviously that he was one of the youngest in his class last year and he struggled with it. So this year he's the oldest and the transformation we've seen in just a few weeks has been absolutely amazing.

A part of me is thankful that we still have another year before Miles steps into kindergarten. I'm not sure why but kindergarten just seems so final. Final in a sense that those baby/toddler/little boy years will be over. That my little boy will slowly stop grabbing my hand and hold it while we walk from the school building to the car. If only there was a way to stop time, just for a minute.
