Lucy has been a wonderful addition to our family; however, I often find myself thinking of Homer and missing him. I had gone through the loss of a pet before, but Homer was different. I guess it was because he was mine and Mike's – we adopted him, brought him home, cared for him and loved him. He was ours.
Life has gone on and the house is full of life, activity and let's not forget dog hair thanks to Miss Lucy. She's brought a new kind of puppy love into our world – one of ball fetching, shoe chewing and a never-ending supply of doggie kisses. It's hard to believe that it's been six months since we said good-bye to our faithful friend and almost five months since we welcomed Lucy into our lives. She will never replace Homer but she's definitely made her very own place in our hearts.
