Back to Swimming

After taking a few months off, we decided to enroll Miles in swimming again. We started in mid-April and after one class Miles was back to where we left off. Now that he's pushing 30 pounds, and more wiggly than a year ago, I sit on the sidelines and cheer Miles on while Mike gets in the pool with him. The kid is a fish. He LOVES the water.

The class routine really hasn't changed much, but the routine is something Miles and the other kids in his class know and you can see how each of them anticipate certain parts. Miles enjoys doing "motor boat, motor boat," when he gets in a noodle that's looped around him and Mike drives him around the pool. He also loves sitting on the hippo water mat/float and singing Humpty Dumpty and then falling off when they say "had a great fall." Miles is also becoming a pro at getting out of the pool. He understands that he needs to go "elbow, elbow, tummy, knee, knee" to climb out and he does a really good job and only needs a tiny boost from Mike. And most of the time he is thrilled to go down the ducky slide at the end of class.

Hands down his least favorite part is swimming on his back. Once in a while he'll float calmly from one side of the pool to the other, but most of the time he fights it. No clue why. Miles lays on his back in the bathtub but has no desire to do it in the pool. Oh well. It's not really a battle we care to fight right now. We're just glad he enjoys swimming. It's only a matter of time before he takes a dip in the Chesapeake Bay or Lake Erie.

**These photos were taken on a not-so-great photo taking day. My camera wasn't cooperating with me, so most of them are out of focus. I promise I'll take better shots soon!**
