I'm not really sure how I feel about Miles shedding his diaper and putting on "big boy" underwear. There was something comforting about him wearing a diaper – like he still needed me a few times a day. I really haven't missed our diaper changes since Miles would kick, scream, run, hide and try to negotiate postponing the "exchange."
Honesty, Miles was probably ready to start potty training months ago, but Mike and I were dragging our feet. I think we had at least 100 excuses as to why not to do it and postponed doing it two or three times. Then Miles asked to wear "big boy" underwear last weekend. Without hesitation I grabbed his wet diaper and tossed it in the trash and watched my baby jump (literally) into his Thomas underwear. Miles strutted around the house like he was on top of the world and went the entire day without an accident.
Miles had several accidents but we expected he would and we're proud that he's trying. Let's just say that Mike and I are armed with mini-M&Ms, stickers and extra pairs of underwear at all times.
