Lots & Lots of Snow!

Mike has done more shoveling this winter than I think he has in the last five. We have so much snow and, I have to admit, I LOVE IT! It is so nice to have snow on the ground in Maryland. Most people are complaining about it and wishing spring/summer would get here but not me. It's been so refreshing. There's something about the peacefulness and silence after a snowstorm before people start "cleaning" up.

This last storm dumped around 20 inches on our area (on top of the 24+ inches from the storm we had a few days earlier). Mike hasn't had school since Friday, February 5th and classes have already been canceled for tomorrow. Even though the roads are clean, there's too much snow on the sidewalks and even on the sides of the road for walkers to get to school. We have no idea when classes will resume...we're just hoping the State Superintendent of Schools gets approval to waive the days missed since we were under a "State of Emergency" otherwise Mike will be teaching until July.

Here are some of the pictures from the second blizzard. The mound of snow in front of our house looks smaller than it actually is because our house sits on a hill. It grew a foot or two after the plows came through later that day (I didn't have a chance to get out and get a picture of the "latest" mound). The neighborhood kids are having fun sledding down it. If Miles wasn't getting over a double-ear infection, we'd be out there too :(
